Drunk and obnoxious British tourists causing chaos and singing football chants… it’s lovely to see Magaluf getting back to some normality. Once the order that required anyone returning to Britain from Spain to quarantine for two weeks was dropped, UK citizens flocked to their favorite holiday destination. Spain has just got the coronavirus under control, while the UK still holds the title of Europe’s worst-hit nation, so this footage elicited quite a few ‘no buenos’ from the locals. Many of them took to Twitter to express their disgust and despair at the behavior in the video. None of the people in the footage are wearing masks, despite Spain’s national policy making them compulsory in public. It’s hard to deny that masks are quite inconvenient when you’re trying to neck eight shots of sambuca an hour. As for social distancing, inebriated people evidently have a very loose interpretation of two meters. Magaluf’s strip has been closed for months due to the ongoing pandemic, and only six bars have now reopened. With restrictions forcing them to close at 2am, the holidaymakers, bereft of entertainment, kept themselves occupied by jumping on cars and singing. £2,000 worth of damage was recorded and one of the culprits was taken into police custody. A local official, Nati Francés, said ‘We want holidaymakers to enjoy nightlife but not an alcohol theme park.’
