The United Arab Emirates has become the first nation in the Arab world to produce nuclear energy, the nuclear reactor ultimately will generate electricity and will be connected to the country’s power grid. The $20 billion Barakah nuclear power plant was built in Abu Dhabi by the Emirates with the help of South Korea. Plant’s Unit 1 is now using nuclear fuel to produce energy after the facility successfully executed initial tests.
