Beirut: Aftermath of multiple explosions

Large scale explosions devastated the port of Beirut on Tuesday afternoon, causing immense damage and sending huge plumes of smoke over the area. Even though the cause of the explosion remains unclear, Lebanon’s Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, said that 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, a highly explosive chemical material, had been stored at a port warehouse without safety measures.
