While a so-called ‘snapback’ of US-led sanctions on Iran could be triggered as part of the JCPOA nuclear deal, even US European allies, like the UK, France and Germany, did not support this move. On top of that, China points out that the US has no right to reinstate the sanctions because it was Washington that ‘had broken its promises’ when it exited the 2015 nuclear deal.
