Thousands of people gathered in the streets of Minsk for an anti-government protest under the motto ‘March for Peace and Independence’. Opposition supporters tried to enter Independence Square, where the protest had initially been planned to be held. The passage to the square was blocked by law enforcement officers. The security forces started dispersing the protesters, detaining 140 people, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
