The government has reversed its decision to ease lockdown restrictions in parts of Greater Manchester on the same day they were due to be lifted. A COVID-19 spike in Bolton and Trafford had prompted council leaders to ask for restrictions to remain in place. The region’s mayor Andy Burnham said the decision to lift the lockdown in those areas should never have been made in the first place.
