An Israeli soldier put his knee on the neck of a 65-year-old Palestinian protester to arrest him, drawing parallels with the death of George Floyd in the US in May. The now infamous chokehold move was used in the village of Shufa near the occupied West Bank town of Tulkarem, where demonstrators gathered to protest Israel’s plans to confiscate 800,000 square kilometers of land for the construction of a settlement industrial zone. Palestinians sought to connect the dots between their cause and the Black Lives Matter movement, which has launched protests throughout the US.
