Coronavirus cases in India top 4 million | DW News

Health authorities in India say the country has now exceeded four million coronavirus cases. Nearly two million new COVID-19 infections were recorded in August alone. India has the third highest total worldwide, behind the US and Brazil. Even so, restrictions in India have been eased as the government pushes to open up the economy. Only the worst hit areas are still under lockdown. As restrictions ease, hundreds of thousands of students are being told to go ahead with competitive exams. DW’s Nimisha Jaiswal reports from Delhi.
