Police in Belarus have arrested more than 600 people after a massive rally of more than 100,000 in the capital Minsk, according to the interior ministry. For the past four weeks, protesters have been demanding that long-time authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko step down after last month’s election. He claimed victory, but his opponents and many observers say the vote was rigged.
