Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe ‘held hostage’ by Iran over £400m UK debt, says husband

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is being ‘held as a bargaining chip’ to force the UK to pay £400m owed to Iran, her husband has said. “If the money was paid it would make it an awful lot easier for Nazanin to be home,” said Richard Ratcliffe. Her five-year prison sentence was due to end in March but Iran has pressed new charges of “propaganda against the regime” that could prevent her from returning to the UK.
