Fires in the Amazon rainforest have burned out of control in Brazil, despite the country’s President telling the United Nations that his government is being wrongly portrayed as an environmental villain. Jair Bolsanaro defended Brazil’s record in protecting the rainforests, and claimed his administration was the victim of a brutal disinformation campaign. But as well as the wildfires, record high temperatures and drought have also brought devastation to the world’s largest tropical wetland. Sky News Chief Correspondent Stuart Ramsay sent this special report from the Pantanal wetlands.
