The police officer who was shot dead in south London has been named as Matt Ratana. Mr Ratana, aged 54, who was a custody sergeant, was killed after being shot by a man who was already in custody. The suspect – a 23-year-old man – then turned the gun on himself and was taken to hospital, where he is still in a critical condition. The incident took place at around 2.15am at Croydon custody centre.
