As the EU gets more and more involved in Belarus’ internal affairs, French president Emmanuel Macron has just met with that country’s opposition leader, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, in the capital of neighboring Lithuania. In her statement, Tikhanovskaya said that Macron has ‘promised to do everything to help us with negotiations during this political crisis in our country’. Earlier on Sunday, incumbent Belarusian president Lukashenko said that Macron himself should have left office when Yellow Vest demonstrators took to France’s streets, after the French leader had called for Lukashenko’s resignation.
