Water cannons and tear gas used at pro-Mapuche protest in Chile

The protest of hundreds of the Mapuche people and their supporters was held in Santiago on Columbus Day, which marks the arrival of Christopher Columbus on the American continent in 1492. Protesters were dispersed by police with water cannons and tear gas, in turn they were throwing projectiles and Molotov cocktails. The Mapuche people are indigenous inhabitants of Chile who hold such protests annually due to land disputes with the state.
