Hopes of US stimulus deal dashed as Senate takes break for election

Hopes of an imminent agreement of a new stimulus plan for the United States economy have been dashed after the Senate was suspended until after next week’s election. It remains unclear whether any agreement could be passed in the so-called ‘lame duck’ period after the election and before January’s inauguration. Also today, the Chinese fintech giant Ant is set to break reocrds with its stock market launch, and further boost the fortune of China’s richest man, Jack Ma.
