German Chancellor Angela Merkel has defended the latest round of coronavirus restrictions as the country prepares to go back into lockdown -albeit a limited one. Addressing the Bundestag, Merkel said it was currently impossible to trace the origin of all the new infections, hampering efforts to contain the virus. But she faced frequent interruptions during her speech and the opposition have called the measures excessive and inappropriate.
