US election wide open, despite Trump ‘coup’

The US presidential election was on Wednesday morning a bitterly contested hot race, with many key states with uncounted ballots yet to declare. Earlier, President Donald Trump declared a premature victory, falsely asserting a fraud had been committed on the American people, and threatening to go to the Supreme Court to stop vote-counting. FRANCE 24’s international affairs editor Douglas Herbert says the president’s words could be considered tantamount to a mini-coup.
