Pentagon withdraws troops from Afghanistan, 2,500 to remain

The US has announced the withdrawal of 500 troops from Iraq, and 2,000 from Afghanistan in January, before President Donald Trump leaves office, leaving around 2,500 soldiers in each country. To further complicate matters, Donald Trump made the announcement while still disputing the result of the recent election.
