The First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon said the virus “does not care about Christmas. It does not care about anything other than spreading itself as far and wide as possible.” As well as the travel ban, Ms Sturgeon announced that for three weeks from Boxing Day, the whole of mainland Scotland is to be placed into the strictest measures – Level 4.
