France’s police: Tense relations the norm in many neighbourhoods

Like various other countries over the past year or so, France has seen mass protests against police brutality. Now, authorities have begun a review of the police in a bid to improve both their working conditions and ties to local communities. In the Paris suburb of Argenteuil, some say there is an endless cycle of mistrust between residents and police. The officers say they themselves face potential violence, but many younger residents feel police checks can easily get out of hand. Our colleagues at France 2 report, with FRANCE 24’s James Vasina.
