Israeli minister on Iran: ‘A violent confrontation is the last resort’ | Conflict Zone

Will Israel conduct an unilateral military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities? Have the chances of that increased now that Joe Biden is in the White House? How will the new US president deal with Israel? Former President Donald Trump backed the Israeli government in an unprecedented manner: pushing peace agreements with a number of Arab states, moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and quitting the nuclear deal with Iran that had been signed in 2015. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action called for strict limits on Tehran’s ability to enrich uranium in exchange for lifting tight financial sanctions on Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the agreement and said it endangered Israel because it would allow Iran to pursue a nuclear weapon. In 2018 Donald Trump abandoned the deal, imposed sanctions on Tehran as part of a policy of “maximum pressure” on Iran. Israeli Community Affairs Minister Tzachi Hanegbi joined Tim Sebastian to discuss what the changes mean. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
