The children of Yemen’s forgotten war – BBC News

Yemen’s long running conflict is grinding on and children remain in the firing line. Government-aligned forces, backed by a Saudi-led military coalition, have been fighting the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels who control Sanaa and much of the west of the country. The conflict has taken a heavy toll on the population, especially women and children. 11,300 children have been killed or maimed in nine years of war in the Arab world’s poorest country, the UN said. The civil war has created a major humanitarian crisis.
