Seventy years ago, the Korean Armistice Agreement ended more than three years of fighting and created a demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. But no peace treaty was ever signed. Five million people died in the war, half of them civilians and also Korean, American, and Chinese soldiers. It divided Korea into north and south. And has since turned from a hot war, to a cold conflict. Today, some 28,000 US soldiers remain stationed in South Korea. Can Korea’s solution of a frozen conflict be an option for Russia and Ukraine?
