The West African regional bloc ECOWAS is preparing to meet again Thursday to review its response to the coup in Niger. ECOWAS member countries have so far avoided a military response, and are instead using sanctions to put pressure on the junta. They’ve closed their land borders with Niger, leaving hundreds of trucks stranded and unable to transport cargo. That includes relief materials and aid agencies want a resolution to the impasse so that supplies can be restocked for people who are in desperate need.
