The Metropolitan Police’s IT breach will cause a “serious security threat” for undercover officers, according to an ex Met Police chief. Cybercriminals have successfully breached the IT systems of a contractor in charge of producing the Met’s warrant cards and staff passes. Former Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Stephen Roberts, told Sky News we needed to “keep a sense of proportion”, but for a minority of undercover officers having their identities “floating around on the internet” would be a “serious problem”.
