Precious samples collected from an asteroid are to be moved to a specialist laboratory in Texas. Material taken from what has been described as “the most dangerous rock in our Solar System” came down to Earth in Utah in a Nasa space craft. The samples had been scooped up from the surface of asteroid Bennu in 2020 by the Osiris-Rex spacecraft. Scientists hope the samples will provide some answers about how life began more than four billion years ago.
