Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said: “We are at war, not an operation, not rounds, but at war”, addressing the attack by Hamas militants on the country. Mr Netanyahu said, “Hamas opened a murderous surprise attack against the state of Israel and its citizens” and that Israel is in a war and will win it. Hamas fighters have crossed the border into Israel after an early morning barrage of rockets from the Gaza Strip. The head of the group, Mohammed Deif, says it’s the beginning of Operation Al Aqsa Storm. Israel has called up reservists and is striking targets in Gaza.
