Israel has offered time-limited safe passage to more than a million Palestinians ordered to leave northern Gaza. A professor in Gaza has stressed the Israeli raids are seen as a “second Nakba” referring to the term used to describe the displacement of the majority of the Palestinian Arabs following the war of the independence of Israel in 1948. Professor Mukaimer Abu Saada, currently in Gaza, has said the situation in the strip is “more than catastrophic” adding that many Palestinians see the latest events as the “second Nakba.”
