The USS Carney, a navy destroyer in the northern Red Sea, intercepted three land attack cruise missiles and several drones that were launched by Houthi forces in Yemen, according to the Pentagon. Military analyst Michael Clarke says the shooting down of three missiles potentially heading to Israel by the US is “significant” as it was the country “defending Israeli airspace directly.”
