Seaweed is being used to tackle the big climate challenges, but in the UK the industry is still being developed. It is being used by firms as a solution to capture carbon, reduce methane when used in animal feed and to cut down the use of plastic. Plastic pollution is having a global impact, with plastics found from the polar sea-ice to the deepest part of the ocean. UK firm Notpla, that makes packaging from seaweed, has been named as one of the £1m winners of the Earthshot climate prize. The Prince of Wales is in Singapore ahead of the awards ceremony for his Earthshot prize on Tuesday.
