Covid inquiry: First lockdown came ‘a bit too late’ – Whitty

Professor Sir Chris Whitty has told the Covid inquiry that the timing of the first lockdown “with the benefit of hindsight,” came “a bit too late.” He said there was a difficult balance between introducing measures too early and having “all the damages with fairly minimal impact” and going too late and finding “all the problems of the pandemic running away”.
