The United Nations General Assembly has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, after more than three quarters of member states voted in favour. The votes of 193 nations are a non-binding resolution but have symbolic importance. President Joe Biden has warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel was losing international support because of its “indiscriminate bombing” of Gaza.
