Scientists have confirmed that 2023 was globally the hottest year ever recorded. Man-made climate change and the El Nino weather pattern are being blamed for the rising temperatures. Last year was about 1.48C warmer than the long-term average before humans started burning large amounts of fossil fuels, the EU’s climate service says. Climate scientists are warning that 2024 could be even warmest of the 174-year observational record.
