The prime minister has defended his position to back joint strikes by the UK and US in Yemen, saying it was “right” to take proportionate action to send a “strong message”. He called on the Houthi rebels to “recognise the international condemnation and desist”. Rishi Sunak also played down the significance of recent polling suggesting he is on course to lose the election by landslide.
