Defence Secretary Grant Shapps says defence spending is currently below the government target of 2.5% of GDP, but wouldn’t say when that goal would be hit. Earlier this week, Mr Shapps made the case for increased western defence spending, in the face of rising hostility from Russia and elsewhere.
