EU Foreign Ministers are meeting today hoping to agree on a roadmap to peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The EU’s initiative comes as Israel faces mounting international pressure to end its offensive in Gaza. At the heart of their plan is a call for a “preparatory peace conference” that would be organised by the EU, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the League of Arab States. The United States and United Nations would be invited to take part. Germany’s foreign minister says the only solution to the conflict is a two-state solution.
