While listing apparent U-turns made by Sir Keir Starmer since becoming Labour leader, Rishi Sunak referenced Sir Keir’s position on transgender rights and suggested he has struggled with “defining a woman”. Sir Keir immediately stood and questioned the prime minister’s decision to raise it, given that Brianna Ghey’s mother was visiting the House of Commons. Brianna, 16, who was transgender, was murdered by two teenagers in Linear Park in Culcheth, near Warrington, in February 2023.
