Labour’s election campaign boss has denied suggestions the party’s flagship green policy was dropped because it was electorally unpopular. Pat McFadden told Trevor Phillips rising interest rates were to blame for the decision to scrap the £28bn commitment towards green investment. Mr McFadden also said Labour’s candidate in Rochdale, Azhar Ali, was “wrong” for suggesting Israel deliberately allowed its citizens to be killed on 7 October.
