Commons leader Penny Mordaunt has blamed Labour for the chaos that engulfed the Commons on Wednesday evening. She accused Labour of playing “party politics” after Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle allowed a vote on a Labour amendment in a debate on Gaza. The move ended with Tory and SNP MPs storming out of the Commons – dozens of them have now signed a motion declaring they have no confidence in the Speaker.
