The prime minister has refused to describe Lee Anderson comments about the London Mayor as Islamophobic when questioned by broadcasters. Mr Anderson, MP for Ashfield, was suspended for saying he believed “Islamists” had “got control” of Sadiq Khan. Mr Sunak said on a visit to East Yorkshire: “I’ve been very clear that what he said was wrong, it was unacceptable, and that’s why we suspended the whip.”
