Hamas has presented mediators in Qatar with a cease-fire proposal for Gaza. The first stage would see the release of women, children, eldery and the sick hostages taken in Hamas’ October 7 terror attack — in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Hamas said a permanent cease-fire date and a deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip would be agreed after the first stage.
