Amid warnings that civilians in Gaza are facing widespread famine, it will be “virtually impossible” to deliver the kind of sustained aid needed to avoid humanitarian catastrophe without a ceasefire being reached, Aaron David Miller, senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a former US State Department Middle East analyst and negotiator, tells France 24. It comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken begins a tour of the Middle East with the aim of securing a deal on a truce in Gaza war as increasing strain shows in Washington’s relationship with its ally Israel.
