German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has arrived in China for a visit focused on the tense economic ties between the two countries, as well as differences over Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Scholz arrived with a delegation of business leaders in the city of Chon-ching — an industrial hub of over 30 million people in China’s southwest. He’s expected to travel on to Shanghai and then Beijing over the next three days. China has been Germany’s top trading partner for the past eight years straight, with a trade volume of around 253 billion euros.
