The son of Myanmar’s deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi has accused the military junta of using her as a "bargaining chip" and "human shield" after they moved her to house arrest.
Kim Aris said with fighting against rebel groups moving towards the capital Naypyidaw, his mother was being used as leverage against the opposition.
Ms Suu Kyi was deposed in a military coup in 2021 and has been held in prison ever since, charged with treason and bribery.
With the country now entering its hottest season, the junta said they were moving her due to fears of heatstroke.
The country’s military is engaged in a civil war with various groups opposed to the dictatorship.
