MPs are to debate assisted dying after an online petition, backed by the journalist and campaigner Dame Esther Rantzen, gained 200,000 signatures.
Many opposed to a change in the law have voiced concerns that legalising assisted dying could put pressure on vulnerable people to end their lives for fear of being a burden on others.
