The chair of the Labour Party, Anneliese Dodds MP, says former Conservative MP Natalie Elphicke – who "crossed the floor" in PMQs – had "put her constituents first".
She also said it would be "totally inappropriate" if the Dover MP was offered a peerage after joining Labour.
Ms Dodds added "only Labour had a plan" for migration, housing and children which is what "many people see in their everyday lives."
