City Minister Bim Afolami has defended the amount of Conservative MPs stepping down at the election, saying the party has a "good blend" of more experienced and younger MPs.
Housing Secretary Michael Gove and Angela Leadsom are the latest Conservative MPs to announce they are standing down.
They join former Prime Minister Theresa May, as well as Dominic Raab, Sajid Javid and John Redwood.
Mr Afolami said it was "reasonable" for MPs who have worked for 20 to 30 years and are "near retirement age" would want to "choose to do something else".
