Jury deliberations in Donald Trump ‘s criminal hush money trial are set to begin. The historic closed-door deliberations follow a whirlwind of closing arguments, which stretched into the evening hours as prosecutor Joshua Steinglass accused Trump of intentionally deceiving voters by allegedly participating in a “catch-and-kill” scheme to bury stories that might obliterate his 2016 presidential bid. Their verdict could upend the 2024 presidential race, yet a conviction will not prevent Trump from running to take back the White House nor will it prevent him from taking office if he wins. Trump faces three other criminal prosecutions, but they are not expected to go to trial before the November 5th election. As the first-ever criminal case against a former US president.enters the deliberations phase, amid a tight presidential race, FRANCE 24’s Nadia Massih is joined by Pamela Falk, Lawyer, UN Correspondent Emeritus, and Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
