A court in Hong Kong has found fourteen pro-democracy activists guilty of subversion. It is the biggest trial of its kind after China imposed a security law on the territory in 2020, which critics say is aimed at stifling dissent. Australia and the United States are among the countries to criticize the verdicts as politically motivated and to call for the defendants to be released.
For more, we talk to Sunny Cheung in Washington. He was one of the nominees in the 2020 primaries and a close ally to Joshua Wong. He managed to flee before the mass arrest.
