South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on political parties to find common ground after the ruling African National Congress lost its long-standing majority in national elections.
The ANC was officially declared the winner of the elections on Sunday with 40 percent; however, the loss of the absolute majority is considered a historic defeat for the former liberation movement. The party has dominated South Africa since the end of apartheid, but must now seek coalition partners. Some rival parties say they will only deal with the ANC if Ramaphosa stands down.
